Lunch & Learn: FinCen

Thursday, March 19, 2026 (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

Beginning March 1, 2026, a new federal reporting requirement issued by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) will impact certain residential real estate transactions. While title and settlement companies will generally be responsible for filing reports, REALTORS? may be asked to assist in gathering information related to applicable transactions.

This session will provide a clear, practical overview of the new rule, including which transactions may trigger reporting, what information may be requested, and how agents can confidently navigate client questions without stepping into legal advice.

Although the rule becomes effective March 1, 2026, it applies to transactions closing on or after that date — even if they were under contract beforehand. Understanding the timeline is critical as we move into 2026.

Date: Thursday, March 19th, Time: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Location: Bayou Board of REALTORS; Cost: $10 (includes lunch) and all registration proceeds support the Bayou Board.
